A Target customer says he was accused by the retail giant of trying to steal an item while using the store’s self-checkout machine.
Convertible machines have been the subject of many complaints from many retail stores.
“@AskTarget, it’s really weird to be accused of not calling something in self-checkout when it’s literally on the screen showing that I scanned it,” the dissatisfied customer wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“If you want me to use self-checkout without paying me for doing someone else’s job, you might as well leave me alone while I do what’s right.”
Target later responded to the post saying it was sorry the man had a bad experience.
“We apologize for the negative experience you had using self-checkout at your local Target store,” the brand responded.
“This is not the experience we want our guests to have when shopping at Target. Please provide us with the date, time and location so we can provide feedback to leadership.”
It is currently unclear whether the user provided the information.
