A mysterious metal sign that has become something of a pandemic craze has appeared on a Las Vegas hiking trail months after returning to the public across the pond.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police posted about the structure on social media on Monday, saying it was found near Gass Peak. The department urged anyone visiting the monolith to be aware of the weather, tell someone about their hiking plans and stay hydrated.

Similar-looking monoliths have emerged in recent years as these mysterious structures have been spotted around the world since they first appeared during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. It first appeared in Utah, before similar structures were seen in places like California and Romania.

Originally, an anonymous art collective called The Most Famous Artist took responsibility for installations in Utah and California. But the BBC reported in December 2020 that the account was not responsible for one that appeared on the Isle of Wight.

“The monolith is out of my control at this time,” the report said at the time. “Good luck to all the aliens working hard around the world to propagate the myth.”

Neither structure has made headlines in a few years, but a monolith reappeared in the UK earlier this year. A structure was seen in Wales in March, according to the BBC.

It is unclear who is responsible for the new facilities.
