NUMBERS of American residents are electing new homeowners association board members after a difficult year in their neighborhood.

O Arizona homeowners had issues with the HOA board last year, to the point that several residents suffered financial problems that lead them to distribute millions of dollars.

A large part of the problems residents have with their HOA have to do with a disagreement over how the association should respond to financial problems.

The problems caused by the HOA also involved a large increase in the number of people attending board meetings, as well as fee increases and wild allegations, local news network The Tribune Table reported.

The movement to get rid of the HOA’s current leadership began when the association announced plans for a 20% increase in resident dues.

One council candidate said he “almost fell off the boat” when he heard about the proposed increase.

The problems with the HOA and the rest of the neighborhood arose from the 50th anniversary celebration the community held last year.

The area has almost 5,000 homes built around a chain of lakes.

Owners have questioned whether current leaders are still the right people to guide the community toward a better life.

Community residents still suffer from HOA errors totaling $1,669,079 from 2020 to 2023.

Last year, an auditor determined that the Dobson Association’s books had “asset transfer” cash assets that fell from $5.6 million in 2019 to $3.6 million at the end of 2022.

During those years, deficit HOA budgets were approved by the board, according to The Mesa Tribune.

As of late 2021, the association’s operating fund has less than $1 million.

The value the HOA ended 2022 with was lower than any other final value during the previous seven years.

A recall election was held in February but failed.

About 100 people from the community attended the recent candidate forum as neighbors continued their attempt to get rid of several HOA board leaders.

It was the first attempt by local residents to get rid of the council majority.

Homeowners are not happy with the current board members, as neighbors say they have demonstrated poor oversight and spending decisions.

The February recall election was unsuccessful because the number of votes fell short of the minimum quorum of 20% of members who voted.

The Association sent a notice to HOA members stating that the failed February election cost at least $20,000 to hold.

Those who were not in favor of the recall emphasized that the election was a waste of HOA funds.

At the forum, the candidates agreed that the Arizona neighborhood is “the best place to live,” as that is the community’s motto.
