Police entered the room he shared with a friend in a three-star apartment complex in Los Cristianos, in the south of the island, while the teenager’s worried mother said she feared that “something bad” had happened to him and that he was being detained against your will. .

Apprentice bricklayer Jay, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, has been booked on a flight back to the UK tomorrow morning.

But his worried mother Debbie Duncan, who has now been joined in Tenerife by Jay’s father Warren, said she had his passport and was not expecting him to reappear and show up to catch the plane home.

She is staying in another apartment in the same complex that Jay booked into, although she is supposed to move into new accommodation tomorrow.

Speaking this evening, when a third day of police searches failed to find any trace of the 19-year-old, whose last telephone contact with friend Lucy Mae was in the mountains near the small village of Masca in north-west Tenerife, Debbie said: “ I haven’t slept since this all started and I have no plans to go online now.

“I was warned I would be beside myself when I saw how hard it was and I probably don’t have the strength right now.

“I just want to be here in case he shows up, but I have a bad feeling. I am being warned that there are a lot of bad people in Tenerife.

“I just think he’s being held against his will. He’s not a stupid boy. He would not have descended bloody mountains.

“There’s a road there with tourists and buses and properties. He’s not that stupid.

“There’s been no ransom demand yet, but I got a Snapchat about 10 minutes after I got off the plane saying ‘Kiss your son goodbye, you’ll never see him again, he owes me a lot of money.’ which I passed on to the police with the number it came from, because I was really smart at the time and made my oldest son, Zac, screenshot it before it disappeared.

“There have been so many hoaxes that I don’t know if it was one of them, but I am passing along information to the police that I think could be relevant and I thought it could be.”

She added: “The police came into Jay’s room today. I was in his room too. But everything in Jay was well hung, it’s just a normal room and there’s nothing untoward there.

“His passport was there along with all the euros I have now.
“I’m not sure if he had any money on him when he made his last call to his friend Lucy on Monday morning before he disappeared.

Come as…

“But he had his bank card and I checked his bank because I can go into his account online and nothing came out since he was at Veronica’s Strip in Playa de Las Americas earlier.

“He and his friend Brad, who he flew here with, would have to get up tomorrow and go home.

“They had a flight tomorrow morning. I have the tickets, as well as Jay’s passport, which was blocked by British authorities before they knew it was in my possession.

“Brad is staying now. No one goes to the airport in case Jay shows up there, because I know for a fact that he would have contacted someone and not suddenly reappear there without warning.

“I am being updated on what the police are doing through the British Consulate and the lady there who has been fantastic.

Coronation Street star’s cry for help

By Anita Markoff, TV reporter

VICKY Entwhistle, who used to play Janice Battersby in ITV soap Coronation Street, shared a heartbreaking post on Tuesday as the search for missing teenager Jay Slater continues.

Vicky shared one of the missing posters circulating online, adding: “My godmother’s grandson is missing.

“I hope they find him. Please pray for him.”

Fans flocked to the comments to offer reassurance, with one saying: “Saw this on Facebook Vicky it seems to be being shared far and wide hope there is good news imminently with all the love and support out there just makes it much harder when abroad! Love and prayers for you all.”

Another offered: “We’re in Tenerife, if we can help in any way let us know.”

“From what I know, the police entered the house where he went after leaving the festival, which is in Teno Rural Park, near Masca.

“I believe the people he went with are British and have Cockney accents, but I don’t know if they are being treated as suspects at this point.

“For me it’s just a matter of sitting back and waiting and hoping that there’s good news tomorrow.”

‘SUSPECT’

Lucy Mae, the last person to speak to Jay before his disappearance, fought back tears today as she said: “There’s something strange going on. It’s suspicious. In two days you’re telling me someone hasn’t seen you.

“There is a restaurant 10 minutes away that he would have seen or passed by. It’s suspicious and strange.”

Lucy told The Sun that her friend is “not stupid” and he called it an area “full of walkers” in “broad daylight”.

She added: “It’s fair that it only opened for another two hours, but if it had been me I would have sat and waited in the restaurant until it opened.

“As soon as it opened, I would have said, ‘Please, can you put my phone on charge’ and then I would have called someone, I would have called a taxi.”

RESEARCH OPERATION

Jay flew to Tenerife with friends Lucy Mae and Brad for the 2024 New Rave Generation (NRG) festival, which ended on Sunday.

He went out that night with two other men he had just met to go to their apartment, Manchester Evening News reports.

Jay’s last known location was Teno Rural Park in the northwest of the island – a popular hiking spot among tourists – at around 8am on Monday.

The place is a 10-hour walk from where he was staying.

Jay’s friend Lucy today said Jay’s disappearance was “suspicious” and insisted “something strange is going on”.

A Civil Guard spokesperson said today at around 12:30 pm local time: “The search operation has moved to the south of the island.

“The search areas are Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas.”

The spokesperson did not elaborate on the reason for the change, but said: “Obviously this is due to information that was received as the investigation progressed.

“As things stand, searches in the mountainous area near Masca in the north have been halted.”

Police said this morning they were keeping an open mind about Jay’s disappearance at the start of the third day of a major search.

A different Snapchat post, sent by Jay on the Sunday night before his disappearance, showed the teen smiling with friends.

It was filmed at around 8:30 pm in the Arona area, in Santa de Cruz, in the south of the island, where the festival took place.

After calling Lucy at 8am on Monday, a missing persons report was made around 9am and the search began.

Jay’s mother, Debbie Duncan, and older brother, Zak, flew in on Tuesday to join the efforts.
