Two people have been arrested after Just Stop Oil protesters painted several private planes orange at an airfield, where they claim Taylor Swift’s plane landed just hours earlier.
It is not clear if FastThe Moroccan plane was one of those targeted by eco-protesters, who say they are demanding an “emergency treaty” to end the use of fossil fuels by 2030.
In a statement, Stansted Airport said Essex Police had arrested two people and “as a precaution, runway operations were suspended for a short period.”
“Shortly after 5am, Essex Police arrested two protesters who had entered the private aviation area of the airfield, away from the runway and main passenger terminal,” a spokesman said.
“As a precautionary measure, runway operations were suspended for a short period, but no flights were disrupted and the airport and flights are operating normally.”

Just Stop Oil posted videos on social media of them breaking into the private airfield at Stansted Airport, where they said the star’s plane was parked.
Footage shows two protesters, named by activists as Jennifer Kowalski and Cole Macdonald, punching a hole in a fence and spraying orange paint on airplanes.
In a warning about new demonstrations, the group said areas of “key importance to the fossil fuel economy” will be attacked around the world this summer unless leaders “act to protect us.”

Commenting on the incident on Thursday morning, Just Stop Oil said: “At around 5am, Jennifer Kowalski and Cole Macdonald entered the private airfield at Stansted Airport where Swift’s plane is currently parked.
“The couple painted two private planes using fire extinguishers filled with orange paint.”
Maconald, 22, from Brighton, said in a statement shared by the group that “we live in two worlds”: one where billionaires live in luxury and another where “countless millions” endure “uninhabitable conditions.”
Dumbarton’s sustainability director, Jennifer Kowalski, 28, said we all “have to consider what we can do every day to change the direction of our society.”
Yesterday the group Orange paint sprayed on Stonehenge.

And there could still be more incidents, as Just Stop Oil warns of “resistance” this summer if the government does not take “meaningful action.”
“While governments allow oil corporations to run amok destroying our communities, the actions of individuals mean very little,” the group stated.
“That’s why Just Stop Oil demands that our next government sign a legally binding treaty to phase out fossil fuels by 2030.
“If they do not stand up for the people they represent, Just Stop Oil supporters, along with citizens of Austria, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands and Switzerland, will join the resistance this summer if their own governments do not take meaningful action.”
Essex Police have been contacted for comment.
