A WALMART customer has slammed the retailer after excessively waiting for an employee to help unlock a shelf.
Shoppers remained furious about anti-theft measures, including locked shelves and receipt checks.
Many argue about waiting times and the inconvenience of both measures.
A shopper talked about her receipt from a Walmart shopping trip to buy facial moisturizer and found a sea of locked shelves.
“[I] I pressed the button for assistance, waited 5 minutes, pressed the button again, waited another 5 minutes,” explained the frustrated buyer on Facebook publish.
“I called the store to see if anyone could be sent to that aisle. No response.”
The shopper explained that while waiting for an employee, he noticed overstocked items placed vaguely at the top of the shelves, but the lotion was not up there.
“[I] I pressed the button again, finally 15 minutes later someone appeared. They take my moisturizer and say they will take it to self-checkout,” they wrote.
“I finished shopping and they blocked self-payment. I go to the register and no one can find my face cream.
After a 25-minute wait and a chaotic shopping trip, the customer called for action.
“Something needs to change,” they pleaded.
“[I] I guarantee they will lose more sales than they would through theft by locking up a daily used item.”
Along with his rant, the shopper also posted a photo of the locked moisturizer aisle and overstocked items on top of the shelves to prove his point.
‘NOT WORTH IT’
Other Facebook users were equally frustrated with the experience, and some told them to shop elsewhere.
“You might need to start buying your face cream elsewhere, like Walgreens,” someone suggested, in part.
“It’s not worth the hassle at Walmart, that’s for sure! I’m sorry you had that terrible experience.”

“I’m thinking next time, maybe I’ll try Walgreens. What a nightmare to get something so simple,” one user advised, in part.
“Yes, Walgreens and then I set up regular Amazon shipping. I couldn’t get makeup remover the other night when I went in, no one knew anything,” one commenter wrote.
“Walmart is a mess!” said another.
“Same here now! It’s ridiculous!” a related buyer.
“Just another reason I don’t shop at Walmart,” admitted one user.
‘What’s the point?’
This is far from the first time a customer has shared an annoyance about the anti-theft method on social media.
Another buyer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, asking what was the point of buying.
“I went to Walmart today for the first time in a long time and what’s the point of shopping if everything is locked up?” they asked in a tweet.
Locked shelves at the retailer weren’t the only thing irritating customers.
“So when an associate comes in, they don’t come with the key they need?” they asked.
