A PHOTOGRAPHER has sparked excitement among social media users after posting images of what he believes to be the Virgin Mary in the sacred Colombian mountains.
Carlos Alzate claims that Jesus’ mother appeared to him in Cerro del Mavecure, an area considered sacred by the Puinave indigenous people.
The bizarre images show what appears to be a glowing white figure floating above a rocky part of the cliff face.
In a strange religious moment, the sun hits the mysterious figure and it appears to reflect its own light, local media reported.
The mountainous region is restricted to tourists, but it is claimed that Mother Mary can be seen from afar.
Carlos, the photographer who shared the photo, said on social media: “The Virgin Mary appeared to me in the hills.”
Locals consider the Mavecure Hills a natural wonder that holds cultural and spiritual meanings for the Puinave people.
The indigenous group lives on the banks of the Inírida and Guaviare rivers and makes a living by fishing, cultivating a root called cassava and harvesting fruits, the British Council Reports.
The photograph immediately sparked theories online that the so-called “look” was a sacred sign.
A social network user said: “Virgin of Inírida, now the believers will arrive.”
Another said: “This is a sign, something.
“This could happen according to the mythological belief of the Puinave people.”
Locals consider the ‘appearance’ a good omen for the local community.
It turns out that another strange religious sighting has been spotted in Las Vegas, leaving police baffled.
The mysterious tall, mirrored column was discovered along a popular trail in Nevada by search and rescue teams.
With the naked eye, the column is difficult to detect due to its mirrored and reflective appearance.
There has been no official explanation for the bizarre sculpture or how it ended up in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) turned to X and conveyed their confusion about the column.
They said: “We see a lot of strange things when people go hiking, like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water… but look!
Last year, believers in Mexico believed they saw a small statue of the Virgin Mary crying, in a bizarre religious phenomenon.
The ‘crying’ figure was recorded by shocked visitors at the church in the community of El Canal, in the state of Colima.
Hundreds of people have since visited the church to see the mysterious figure of Mother Mary.
Videos uploaded to social media show small drops of water apparently coming from the statue’s eyes and running down its face.
