BODYCAM footage captured the emotional moment a brave police officer rescued a disabled man from a house fire.
Earlier this month, Officer Kevin Long was the first to respond to an emergency on Sagemore Drive in Evesham, New Jersey.
The shocking video showed the police officer bravely running into a burning house after realizing the house had been engulfed in flames.
“I’ve got smoky conditions! Smoky conditions,” he yelled as he ran toward the house.
He was soon followed by the fire department.
“Upon assessing the situation, Officer Long discovered that a resident was trapped inside the burning home,” said the press statement read.
“Without hesitation and under extremely dangerous conditions, Officer Long entered the home, navigating in near-zero visibility to rescue the trapped resident.”
In the footage, the officer told a resident to get out of the burning house while he continued to search for the resident’s husband.
“I can’t see anything,” the officer said as he searched for the remaining resident.
After locating the husband, who was sitting in an armchair, the police officer dragged him out of the house.
Police say the two victims are around 70 years old and the man has health problems and is unable to walk.
Once the two residents were out of danger, the officer fell onto the front lawn.
In the body camera footage, Officer Long is heard coughing as he falls to the ground.
The police department said two residents from the fire were treated at local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer Long was also admitted to a hospital after suffering smoke inhalation, according to the police news release.
“He eventually got up and evacuated the other 16 apartments,” said Police Chief Walt Miller. said WTXF.
Their bravery and quick action in the face of danger saved a life and minimized damage, reflecting the highest standards of public service.

According to the police department, Evesham Fire-Rescue Quint 2235 arrived within 6 minutes of being dispatched.
They managed to contain the fire in the kitchen and prevented further damage to the five adjacent apartments.
Affected families were allowed to return to these units as soon as the situation was under control.
On Monday, the department honored Officer Long for his bravery.
In 2020, he was recognized as director of the year.
“His bravery and quick action in the face of danger saved a life and minimized damage, reflecting the highest standards of public service,” reads the police statement.
Police confirmed the fire was caused by unattended cooking.
