The house was owned by Jenny Barnes, who also ran The Dam Store with a nearby family.

The family was aware that the house would eventually collapse, as it had been teetering on the edge of the dam for years.

Rapidan Dan’s foundation was worn down over time and failed Tuesday, causing the house to fall into the river.

“It’s going to happen. We don’t know when, but it’s inevitable that the house will be gone,” Barnes told the NBC affiliate. KARE.
