EUROPE intends to build a giant 1,500-mile defensive line to protect itself from a frightening invasion by Vladimir Putin.

Poland and the Baltic countries are planning to create a £2.2 billion blockade to maintain Russia to advance across the continent as the threat of World War III approaches.

The brave allied nations revealed the plans on Wednesday as they asked the European Union for help with the project.

The leaders of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia say a protective lockdown is essential to protect Europe from a dangerous Moscow.

Putin has increased his military threats, among other troubling activities, while repeatedly telling the West to avoid getting involved in his war in Ukraine.

The leaders of the four countries that drafted the plan described the need for extra protection as “dire and urgent.”

They added that all 27 EU states will be protected by the bloc, including more than 450 million people.

It will stretch about 1,471 miles and could potentially be reinforced with minefields, anti-tank ditches and bunkers.

Belarus, considered one of Russia’s representatives alongside Kaliningrad, was also isolated in the proposal.

A letter to the EU president was seen by Reuters Those demanding it said: “It is necessary to resort to extraordinary measures, as the EU’s external border must be protected and defended with military and civilian means.

“The construction of a defense infrastructure system along the EU’s external border with Russia and Belarus will respond to the extreme and urgent need to protect the EU against military and hybrid threats.”

Europe plans new ‘nuclear umbrella’ with 300 French nuclear missiles spread across the continent to confront Russia

The EU president is expected to discuss the proposal at a summit in Brussels that began on Thursday.

Investment in defense systems and warfare is expected to be the main topic of the decisive meeting.

Europe’s biggest concern is Russia’s military capabilities, but the line will also deal with a range of threats outside the battlefield.

Plans are also being discussed to filter misinformation, prevent cyber attacks and address growing economic pressure.

So is the fear that a growing number of migrants will be pushed across borders.

Poland has accused Russia of transporting thousands of asylum seekers to Moscow last month before trying to send them across the EU’s eastern borders.

European countries have long shared concerns about a potential global conflict with Russia – as it presses ahead with its illegal war in Ukraine.

Poland shares a 210-kilometer border with the Russian territory of Kaliningrad and a 270-kilometer border with Belarus.

The government said the country is being targeted by Russian aggression across these borders.

The extraordinary price tag for the bloc is expected to be achieved as part of a unified effort through what has been labeled “an EU-specific action plan”.

EU diplomats say such a barrier could cost more than £2.2 billion.

The letter also suggested that NATO could help with financing and building the defensive line.

In addition to mobilizing military personnel throughout the bloc.

Last month, Poland announced plans for a similar £2 billion 430-mile line of military defenses.

The name of the proposal was nicknamed the “Tusk Line” after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the new program.

He said this would make NATO’s eastern border “impassable for a potential enemy.”

The line of defense would include steel barriers, reinforced steel hedgehogs, palisades, trenches, tank traps and planned minefields.

They announced that the wall, which appears to have been expanded in the new plans, could be completed by 2028.

Inside France’s formidable Maginot Line

In the 1930s, France built an elaborate defensive barrier in the northeast to protect it from potential German attacks after the First World War.

Named after its creator Andre Maginot, the line was seen as a permanent linear system to prevent disastrous cross-border attacks.

It was made of thick concrete blocks built to resist advancing troops, as well as iron and steel reinforcements.

The French even managed to build heavier weapons loaded with stronger ammunition.

Once built, many soldiers compared it to a modern city due to its sense of security, comfort and space.

The line was air-conditioned in some places and also had a built-in recreation room, bedrooms and an underground railway line.

However, when World War II broke out, the Germans found a way around the seemingly formidable wall, passing through Belgium.

Hitler’s men invaded Belgium in 1939 before crossing into France across the River Somme and entering Sedan with tanks and planes.

After the war it was used sporadically until 1969 when operations ended.

It is now preserved by the French government.

Tusk said that Alexander Lukashenk, dictator president of Belarus, is promoting a “hybrid migration war” in Poland.

He said: “These are not refugees, they are fewer and fewer migrants, families, poor people who need help.

“In 80 percent of cases, these are organized groups of men, aged between 18 and 30, who are very aggressive.”

Ukraine built its own defense line with 42,000 concrete “dragon’s teeth” along trenches lined with barbed wire.

The 600-mile wall is made of anti-tank obstacles, underground bunkers and fortified trenches.

A few days ago, one of Putin’s cronies appeared on state television to deliver a disturbing warning to other NATO states.

Major Nikolay Plotnikov said the warmongering president needs to correct a “historical mistake” to bring Russia back to Soviet glory.

He believes that Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin, former Russian dictators, caused “injustice” by giving up the territories.

Now Putin’s friend thinks Moscow should retake its Baltic strongholds.

He also took the opportunity to threaten the same countries, telling them to stop showing support for Ukraine during Vlad’s illegal war.

The Baltic republics have strengthened their land defenses against Russia over more than two years of war.

In May, The Sun spoke to several former army generals who warned that Putin intends to expand his maritime borders, in a move against NATO countries.

Putin’s Defense Ministry announced a shocking attempt to change Russia’s maritime borders with Finland and Lithuania last Wednesday.

Russia is reportedly planning to take control of Gotland – east of Sweden – which, according to General Richard Shirreff, would give Putin dangerous levels of control in the Baltic countries.
