A WALMART shopper had to go through two anti-theft measures while trying to buy deodorant.

The deodorant was locked behind a plastic wall at Walmart, and once an employee came to retrieve it, a safe was placed in it until checkout.

An X user, James (@iguessimjames), shared the shopping experience and how it angered him.

“This Walmart is so annoying, it made us wait forever for DEODORANT and put it in a stupid lockbox,” James said in the post.

James explained that it was chaotic to see employees trying to keep up with all the safety measures.

“The whole place was busy with employees trying to adhere to these stupid anti-theft policies, which really pissed me off,” he continued.

Anti-theft measures have distorted your shopping experience.

Walmart’s help account responded to the post and wanted to make amends.

“That’s not the experience we want you to have, James!” Walmart said.

“Can you DM us about this so we can better serve you?”

BRAIDED

However, James is not alone because another Walmart shopper, Sue Bruno, said she also had back-to-back anti-theft measures for a mini-cusal product.

Bruno was purchasing Tylenol, which was locked up and then had to be placed in a locked box.

‘Never shop at that chain store again,’ warns Walmart shoppers as they are forced to pay a subscription to use self-checkout

“The activity on the road today was sad and disturbing,” Bruno said in the post.

“We had some pharmacy items to buy (Tylenol) at Walmart in Redding, CA.

“Everything we needed was locked behind plastic doors.

“We waited 10 minutes for an employee with a key.

“After she received our item, we had to wait while she put it in a LOCK BOX to take to the cashier when we were done shopping.”

The double security protocol also left others in a state of shock.

Anti-theft measures implemented by retailers

Retailers in the US and Canada have implemented strategies designed to combat theft. The US Sun has compiled a list of measures that have been implemented in stores.

  • Lock items in cabinets.
  • Safety stakes.
  • Security cameras.
  • Signs warning about the impact of theft.
  • Receipt scanners.
  • Receipt checks.
  • Carts with locking technology

Bruno’s post received comments from several people who found it excessive.

“This is just sad,” one person responded.

“I know things are crazy, but this is one of the reasons I don’t shop at Walmart,” said another.
