A SILVER alert has been issued for the son of a missing former NFL player.
The alert was declared for 14-year-old Bryson Muir after his parents backed out of their meeting with police.
Bryson, from Indiana, was reported missing for 12 days, according to Fox affiliate WXIN.
Indiana State Police described Bryson as a 6’2″, 185-pound black male with black hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen with a black eye and wearing an orange Under Armor shirt and blue jeans.
Bryson is the son of former Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman Daniel Muir.

Muir played for the Colts for four seasons and ended his season in 2011.
LAST SEEN
Police believe Bryson may have been a victim of domestic violence while living at her Servant Leader’s Foundation home in Logansport — about 75 miles west of Fort Wayne, per the NBC affiliate. WTHR.
It’s part of a large property owned by a religious group in Kokomo — about 132 miles west of Fort Wayne.
Bryson was last seen with his mother, Kristen Muir, on June 16 when they were dropping off his grandmothers in the Cleveland, Ohio area, according to WTHR.
His grandmother called the police to report the alleged abuse and showed a photo of the boy with a black eye.
In the image, Bryson’s right eye is swollen and almost closed – evidence of possible abuse.
However, when police stopped the mother shortly after the report, Bryson was not in the car.
“It was minutes, it wasn’t a very long period of time,” Indiana State Police Capt. Ron Galaviz said, WTHR reported.
“But in that period, Bryson was not found. We don’t know where he went.”
The car was reportedly a white 2015 Chevrolet Suburban that belongs to the Servant Leader’s Foundation, according to WTHR.
Due to her mysterious disappearance, police asked the Cass County Department of Children’s Services to intervene.
“Multiple attempts by DCS to contact the mother and father were unsuccessful,” Galaviz said, reported by WTHR.
What is a silver alert?
There are certain qualifications that must be met for a Silver Alert to be issued. The criteria also differ from state to state.
For a Silver Alert to be issued, the person must be:
- a missing adult in danger
- a missing child in danger
- a high-risk missing person
- or have a mental disability validated by a credible medical authority
There must also be enough information about the person for national broadcast to be useful.
“We were also unable to contact Bryson’s parents, Daniel and Kristen Muir. So what we’re asking for is the public’s help.”
Police said Bryson is considered missing and endangered.
‘NOT WILLINGNESS TO COOPERATE’
It was only on Thursday, June 27, that his parents could be contacted by the police.
They began to cooperate and agreed to bring their son to a meeting with police at Peru Post in Indiana, police said according to WXIN.
The plan was to meet at 12pm on Friday, June 28, according to police.
However, at around 11am, Daniel and Kristen Muir “walked away” from the agreement and this “signaled an unwillingness to cooperate” with police.
Authorities are now asking for anyone to come forward with information about his whereabouts.
“We would consider the father, Daniel, a person of interest and someone we definitely want to talk to,” Galaviz said, per WTHR.
“But again, at the end of the day, Bryson’s safety and well-being are of the utmost importance.”
