Sergeant Wallin awarded 2023 Outstanding Deputy of the Year

EMMET COUNTY – On Friday, June 21, Sgt. Mitch Wallin of the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was one of three Michigan state deputies to receive the 2023 Outstanding Deputy of the Year award.

The award is presented by the MADD Michigan Chapter (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). Wallin was singled out for his 26 OUIL/OUID arrests and convictions. Wallin has led his department with OUIL/OUID arrests since he was hired in 2018.

Wallin received the award from Matt Saxton, executive director of the Michigan Sheriff’s Association.
