For the second day in a row, the National Weather Service issued a heat warning Saturday for the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas, Collier County and mainland Monroe County.
The warning lasts until 5pm on Saturday because “high temperatures and high humidity can cause heat illness,” the weather service said.
The maximum base temperature is expected to be 91 degrees, but the heat index, which takes humidity into account, is expected to reach 109.

Ways to deal with excessive heat include:
Stay indoors with air conditioning or fans blowing.
Wear light, loose-fitting clothing outdoors.
If you can, take care of outside work as the afternoon turns to evening.
Drink lots of water or cold drinks with electrolytes. If you are working outside, take regular water breaks, whether you feel the need or not.
Remember to check on friends, family or elderly people who may be in homes with insufficient cooling.
