NECEDAH – Three adults and three children died after a house fire Sunday morning in Necedah.
The fire was reported around 2:35 a.m. Sunday on Morros Mile Road, according to a news release from the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller thought there were two or three people inside the home, but when crews from the Necedah and New Lisbon fire departments, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office and Mauston Area Ambulance arrived and escorted several people out of the home , discovered that there were six family members still inside, according to the release.
Fire department crews fought the fire for about three hours and were at the scene for more than 12 hours, according to the statement.
As of Monday morning, authorities believe the fire was accidental, but the investigation continues. The Wisconsin Department of Justice and the State Fire Marshal are assisting in the investigation.
