Jamie Foxx has revealed some of the details behind the “medical emergency” that left him in hospital last year.

The Oscar-winning star was filmed chatting with fans in downtown Phoenix and apparently answering a question about her mysterious health scare.

In the short video, shared on TikTok by a fan named Dr. Brenda Combs, Foxx can be seen wearing white shorts and a black t-shirt outside a coffee shop.

The 56-year-old said: “On April 11 last year, bad headache, I asked my son for an Advil,” and then, snapping his fingers, continued: “I was away for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.” .

He then explained: “So they told me, I’m in Atlanta, they told me, my sister and my daughter, they took me to the first doctor.

“The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there,’ at which point Foxx points to his head.

He concluded, “I won’t say it on camera,” looking toward the person filming him speaking.

The Django Unchained star reportedly fell ill in Atlanta while filming a movie with Cameron Diaz called Back In Action.

In December, he made his first major public appearance after leaving the hospital, appearing at the Critics Choice Awards, where he was honored with a Vanguard Award for his performance in the comedy-drama The Burial.

“I went to hell and back”

Accepting the award, Foxx told the audience that he had been unable to walk during his illness and that the fight for his health had given him “a new respect for life… [and] for my art.”

He has kept a relatively low profile during his recovery, but speaking in a video shared with his fans last summer, he said went “to hell and back” while receiving treatment in the hospital.

He said, “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes coming out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to pull through.”

The actor, comedian and singer added that he would prefer fans to see him “laughing, having a good time, partying, telling a joke, making a movie.”

Foxx, who won awards for playing Ray Charles in the 2004 film Ray, also said his sister Deidra and daughter Corinne had saved his life.

He also denied claims that he had been blinded or paralyzed during his illness.

Last May, Foxx announced that he would become the US musical game show hostWe Are Family, featuring her daughter Corinne, will air later this year on the Fox network.

Back In Action, the film he was filming when he fell ill, will be released in November.
