JOE Biden bizarrely admitted he almost fell asleep during his debate against Donald Trump last week – after the disastrous performance sparked calls for him to resign.
Biden addressed public concerns about his performance against former President Trump on Tuesday, noting that his travels around the world in recent weeks played a big factor in the debate.

“I wasn’t very smart. I decided to travel around the world a few times… right before the debate,” he said while talking to donors at a fundraiser in Virginia.
“I didn’t listen to my team… and I almost fell asleep on stage.”
Before the debate, the president was at Camp David preparing for the big event.
He would have left for Atlanta on June 27, the morning of the debate.
Before being at Camp David, the president made a trip to Italy for the Group of Seven summit on June 14.
“It’s not an excuse, but an explanation,” Biden said Tuesday.
He apologized, but also emphasized that it was “critical” for him to win the next election.
The president kept his speech brief, speaking to donors for only about six minutes.
Biden’s debate performance came as a shock to the nation, as he appeared to have difficulty answering questions and spoke in a low, hoarse tone on stage.
After the debate aired, many people expressed their concerns for the president.
“I think panic has set in,” David Axelrod, a longtime adviser to former President Barack Obama, said on CNN immediately after the debate over Biden’s performance.
“And I think you’ll hear discussions that, I don’t know, will lead to anything, but there will be discussions about whether he should continue.”
Van Jones, another Democratic strategist, also agreed with Axelrod, saying, “He didn’t do well at all.”
Some Democratic leaders have begun calling for the president to step down in the race.
However, the White House released a statement, originally blaming the president having a cold for his disastrous performance.
