MORE than 200 exotic zoo animals died in a horrific fire at an abandoned amusement park in Crimea.

A terrible fire devastated the five-story zoo in Yevpatoria, while crocodiles, snakes, meerkats, monkeys and many rare birds were among those who tragically died.

The fire started around 3am local time and was only fully extinguished at 7am.

The destruction covered an area of ​​600m², making it difficult for firefighters to rescue the animals.

An emergency services representative said: More than 200 zoo inhabitants have died. The bears, whose enclosure was on the first floor, and several other animals were rescued.”
