Joe Biden has again vowed “I will stay in the race” at a rally as pressure mounts on him to drop out of the presidential election.
Doubts grew about the health and ability of the 81-year-old US president after a unstable performance in a debate with opponent donald trump last week.
Amid questions about whether he has the stamina to run against Trump, he held a rally in the key state of Wisconsin, ahead of an interview with broadcaster ABC News.
Speaking to his supporters, he said he will not let the debate “erase years of work” and that he is “going to win again” in November.
“We had a little debate last week. I can’t say it was my best performance. But since then there has been a lot of speculation,” he said.
“What’s Joe going to do? Is he going to stay in the race? Is he going to drop out? Well, here’s my answer: I’m going to run and I’m going to win again.”

He also took aim at Trump’s intelligence and called him a liar.
As he spoke, the Washington Post reported that Democratic Senator Mark Warner was trying to form a group to ask Biden to step aside, citing two sources close to the effort.
Sky’s US partner NBC News reports that Senator Warner is focusing on a path forward for Biden, rather than a definitive effort to unseat him.
Biden himself admitted that he “almost fell asleep on stage” during the debate, blaming his travels around the world in the days before.
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed Friday afternoon that Biden went to a doctor for a cold “in recent days” but did not undergo any medical examination.

Even some of Biden’s closest political allies, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have raised questions about his health.
