DEBBIE DUNCAN, mother of Jay Slater, insisted the search for her missing son is “not a holiday” for her heartbroken loved ones.
It turns out that a GoFundMe, set up for the family by Jay’s friend Lucy Law, had surpassed £50,000 by Friday night.

Jay’s heartbroken mother Debbie boarded a flight to Tenerife hours after his disappearance and has been there for almost 20 days.
The missing teenager’s father and brother, Warren and Zak, were seen scouring the mountains to find him after officers called off their active search last Sunday.
On Thursday, Debbie called out cruel online trolls for their mockery, conspiracy theories and jokes since Jay disappeared on June 17.
She posted through a friend in the huge Jay Slater Missing Facebook group: “My beautiful son Jay is still missing and believe me, this is not a holiday.”
Debbie told the roughly 600,000 people in the group that the family is “truly devastated” and said “the mystery surrounding her disappearance may never come to light.”
The emotional post read: “I feel the need to post this in your group and then I will remove myself.
“I joined this group to share the positivity and love of the British public.
“It seems like it’s not my fault that you all decided to make your own decisions. It’s really sad that I felt the need to do that.”
Debbie also shot down theories that the funds raised on GoFundMe for Jay are being used for anything other than necessary costs on the island.
She said: “For those of you who are more concerned about the Gofundme page, I can assure you that so far it has not been used and our stay so far has been self-funded.
“I didn’t ask for publicity from the beginning and I didn’t know that the first missing poster had my phone number on it.
“There should have been SOS Guardia Civil, but like I said, that was out of my control. We’re a normal working-class family from Lancashire going through hell.”
The worried mother previously revealed she would use money donated by well-wishers to help detectives search for Jay.
The 19-year-old’s family were “caught off guard” when officers stopped their active search for Jay last Sunday.
His loved ones have vowed to remain on the island as they work tirelessly to find out what happened to the bricklayer’s apprentice.
The family were also urged to use some of the money to fund a private search, after saying they felt “left in the dark” by police.
This comes after they reacted to a TikTok star who gave up his search for the missing teenager after saying he “never received any money” from GoFundMe.
Callum Fahim, who voluntarily traveled to Tenerife to help police, said he left after receiving death threats and not seeing any money.
He flew out after contacting the 19-year-old’s mother, Debbie Duncan, online, as reported by Sky News.
But now the social media personality plans to return to the UK on Thursday.
However, the Slater family said Debbie gave Callum £740 of her own money for his accommodation.
The devastated father claimed the TikToker was left “bitter” after they refused to give him more money.
They said: “We appreciate every single person who has come out.
“He’s a walker. We don’t need walkers, we need experts.
“We wouldn’t want to be responsible for someone getting hurt.”
Distraught Debbie was previously forced to defend the fundraiser after online trolls questioned what the donations would be used for.
The page, set up by Jay’s friend Lucy Law, surpassed its £30,000 target within days.
Debbie slammed cruel conspiracy theorists asking why the money was needed – saying she felt “very let down”.
The mother said: “I am really saddened by all your comments. You seem to be very bothered by this GoFundMe page.
“I really hope I don’t take my son home in a body bag.
“I really can’t believe the British public aren’t supporting me in trying to find Jay.”
The teenager, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared on the Spanish island the morning after a music festival with two friends on June 17.
