A teenager has gone missing from a cruise ship during a stopover in Germany – and his grandmother is scared he was “lured”.
Aydin Brown, 14, was last seen leaving the Caribbean Princess Cruise ship around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
The shipping company said it is working with German police officers on the American teenager’s case.
Aydin’s family expressed their concern and heartbreak, with one of his cousins, Anne, taking to social media and sharing her fears that he had been kidnapped.
She posted: “My worst nightmare continues to unfold. Aydin remains missing.
“It appears that as soon as he left the ship in Warnemünde, Germany, he may have been lured away.”
There are reports that the young man had a disagreement with his grandmother, which potentially led to him leaving the ship and disappearing, Fox News claims.
She has since left the ship and is receiving support from the Princess Cruises team in Germany.
The company also arranged for Aydin’s mother to fly in to help with the massive search.
Police revealed that the missing teenager had already made contact online with players in Germany, Photograph reports.
Officers are now using footage from a CCTV camera to search for the witness who appeared to have been out with Brown before her disappearance on Thursday.
In a statement, Rostock Police said: “Who knows the unknown young man or can provide information about his whereabouts?
“Who saw the missing man at around 7:30 on Thursday morning together with the still unknown man at the Warnemünde train station?”
Warnemünde is about two hours from the capital Berlin.
Princess Cruises said: “We greatly appreciate the quick response and continued efforts of local authorities in searching for the young man.”
The missing teenager is described as being around 5ft 7ins tall and brown hair and eyes, weighing about 220 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a gray zip-up sweatshirt and dark pants, carrying a large black backpack with ‘AMAZON’ written on the front.
German police are asking the witness to come forward to police as soon as possible.
