July 7 – Santa Fe police responded to Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday morning after a report of a 15-year-old gunshot wound victim.
The victim, who was not identified, was transported to the hospital by four other teenagers. He was in critical condition when officers arrived around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and has since been transferred to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, then the University of New Mexico Hospital, for further medical care.
The victim’s family has been notified of his condition, Santa Fe Police Deputy Chief Ben Valdez wrote in a news release Sunday.
The investigation is active and ongoing, Valdez added, although police believe there are no suspects responsible for the overall incident.
“Based on the investigation, the gunshot wound was not self-inflicted nor was it accidental,” Valdez said.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
