A POPULAR Twitch streamer has broken his silence after suffering a horrific eye injury on a live stream and nearly losing his sight.
Joshua, also known as YourRAGE, was streaming on July 3rd when he was in an accident involving an ax hitting his face.
Days after the incident, Joshua, who has more than 1.7 million subscribers on YouTube, shared a video titled “I Can’t See.”
In a 14-minute video, Joshua explained that he went to an ophthalmologist, who told him that the accident damaged his retina and optic nerves.
He started the video speechless.
“I don’t even know how to make a video like this, I’m not going to lie,” he began.
“For those of you who don’t know, I had a freak little accident a few days ago.”
Joshua sits shirtless in a dimly lit room with an eye patch over his right eye.
He began the broadcast by giving viewers some context about the situation.
“I’ll explain where I am now, what I was thinking at the time… I haven’t watched the video yet, I can’t even watch the clip.”
The streamer detailed how his manager warned him against cutting firewood, saying the wood was too wet to cut.
Despite his manager’s warnings, he said he wanted to chop the wood anyway.
“It was my stupid fault for not wearing goggles…I wanted to be sexy chopping wood.”
Halfway through the video, Joshua went into detail about the incident.
“Long story short – they suck my eye, liquefy my eye, putting all kinds of nozzles, all kinds of shit, everything in my eye,” he explained, wearing an eye patch over his injured eye.
“Like, 10 different drops in my eye. Looking through the eye with the machine; basically said… a lot of inflammation on my cornea.”
“But it’s like my retina and optic nerve are really damaged.”
He explained that his injury would take a long time to heal.
“It’s bad,” he said.
Despite the shocking injury, the specialist told Joshua he “got lucky.”
“But he said I’m really lucky that this isn’t 100% just X-Large for your eyeball,” Joshua said.
“He said I better pray to God, I’m so lucky.”
Not all hope for the future is lost, Joshua’s ophthalmologist said he still has a chance to get back to normal in the future.
“His hypothesis, what they’re saying, is that as the bruising and swelling, all the inflammation, as that goes down, and as my eye heals, my vision should slowly come back, day by day. .”
