They were detained on Sunday morning, although authorities only announced the arrest last night.

The tourist, whose nationality was not disclosed, told police that the attackers cut his wrist so they could steal his expensive watch.

A spokesperson for the Ibiza police department said: “Officers from the National Police in Ibiza arrested two British men and a French man aged 34, 23 and 21, on suspicion of belonging to a criminal gang, theft and forgery.

“The incident which led to their arrests last Sunday occurred on Thursday 4 July when a robbery victim reported the theft of a watch worth £105,000.

“The tourist said he was surrounded by a group of people after leaving a bar at the time of the kidnapping.”

The incident is believed to be the first of its kind involving British criminals in Ibiza, as designer watch robberies are typically the work of Italian gangs from Naples, Moroccans and occasionally Eastern Europeans.

The police officers added: “During the arrest operation, a large amount of equipment used to commit these types of crimes was seized, such as frequency signal jammers and car tracking devices.

“The watch has not yet been recovered and the police investigation continues.”

Last month, a British DJ appealed for help after being robbed of “irreplaceable valuables” in Ibiza.

Franky Wah revealed his plight to his 97,000 Instagram followers and received immediate support from people like award-winning Carl Cox.

The Yorkshire-born artist said criminals broke into his car outside a restaurant in Jesus Village and took “everything” inside, including his music and laptop.

He went on to offer a reward for their return.

Days earlier, Sampdoria footballer Cristiano Piccini had his luxury watch stolen in Ibiza by motorbike robbers who tried to run over him and his wife in front of their children in a terrifying broad daylight attack.
