VLADIMIR Putin promised to “target” European capitals in a furious speech as the US seeks to deploy hypersonic missiles in Germany.
The Cold War-style stalemate could trigger World War III as Russia tries to intimidate the West into backing down.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov threatened citizens of countries that could end up hosting American missiles.
Peskov said: “We [Russia] have sufficient capacity to contain these missiles, but the potential victims are the capitals of these countries.”
Putin’s spokesman said the missiles created a “paradox” where “Europe is a target for our missiles, our country is a target for US missiles in Europe.”
The missiles, Tomahawk Cruise and SM-6, have a significantly greater range than what the US currently has in Europe, which BBC reported.
They were banned by a 1988 treaty between Russia and the US, but Putin violated the agreement in 2014.
The American missiles are expected to be deployed only “episodically” and will reach Germany, the only country so far to host them, in 2026.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said the deployment of US long-range missiles would give Europe time to develop its own.
He said Europe has an “increasingly serious capability gap” relative to what Russia and the US have.
Russia has already used its hypersonic missiles to attack the European capital, Kiev.
Earlier this week, when crazy Putin bombed a children’s hospital in Kiev in a shocking “genocidal” attack.
Poland is also considering blowing up Russian missiles flying over Ukrainian airspace.
Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said the Eastern European country was on the “front line” of the war and that Russian bombs were flying through its airspace.
Sikorski said: “At this stage, this is an idea.
“Our dilemma is this. If we shoot them down only as they enter our airspace, the debris will be a threat to our citizens and our property.
“And the Ukrainians are saying, ‘Please, we won’t mind, do this in our airspace when you are in imminent danger of crossing Polish territory.
“In my opinion, this is self-defense, but we are exploring the idea.”
Missiles have become an increasingly important part of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with the Kremlin targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
Britain also supplied missiles to Ukraine, saying it was up to Kiev to decide how to use the weapons supplied by the UK.
Storm Shadow missiles have been used by the war-torn nation to bomb Russian-controlled areas in Ukraine, but not yet by Russia itself.
On a trip to the country in May, Lord Cameron said: “In terms of what the Ukrainians do, in our view, it is their decision on how to use those weapons.
“They are defending their country, they were illegally invaded by Putin and they must take these measures.”
PUTIN’S NUCLEAR THREATS
BY Ellie Doughty, Foreign News Reporter
NATO is headed for a nuclear confrontation with the rest, as NATO could be considering transferring nuclear weapons to Putin’s doorstep.
Below is a timeline of some of the veiled threats the Kremlin has made against the West since it invaded Ukraine two years ago.
February 24, 2022 – Vladimir Putin: “No matter who tries to get in our way or even more so create threats to our country and our people, they must know that Russia will respond immediately and the consequences will be the likes of which you have never seen in its entire history.”
March 26, 2022 – Putin’s friend Dmitry Medvedev: “We have a special document on nuclear deterrence. This document clearly states the reasons why the Russian Federation has the right to use nuclear weapons. … [This includes] when an act of aggression is committed against Russia and its allies.”
April 20, 2022 – Vladimir Putin: “[The new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads] will force everyone who is trying to threaten our country in the heat of frenzied and aggressive rhetoric to think twice.”
February 29, 2024 – Vladimir Putin: “They must understand that we also have weapons that can hit targets on their territory… All this really threatens a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of civilization. Don’t they understand this?
March 12, 2024 – Vladimir Putin declared that weapons such as nuclear weapons “exist to be used.”
A chilling nuclear war simulator also revealed how a Russian nuclear attack could trigger a global conflict – killing 35 million people in just a few hours.
The model predicts a catastrophic war that will escalate from an initial Russian nuclear strike, which will quickly draw in other powers.
Known as “Plan A”, the four-minute animation aims to highlight the dire potential consequences of the conflict between Russia and NATO countries, as all nations would launch attacks against each other.
The model predicts that almost 35 million people would die within a few hours – many of them in the first 45 minutes.
The trigger-happy tyrant even started talking about how he could deploy nuclear weapons in space, saying that Russia can be “proud” of its work on a “nuclear power plant… for operation in space.”
A bombshell US intelligence warning in February suggested that Vlad could be hoping to arm his existing anti-satellite weapon with nuclear weapons and launch it into space.
Last year, it was said that Putin was preparing a deadly 20,000 mph “meteorite” hypersonic missile for combat.
