State police are investigating after a Manchester man was struck and killed along Interstate 84, authorities said.

Soldiers with Troop C in Tolland responded to the report of a crash involving a pedestrian on I-84 East near Exit 85 in Vernon around 5:10 a.m. Saturday, police said. A 2010 Nissan Altima with New York license plates struck a man, who was lying in the roadway for unknown reasons, state police said.

The man, identified as John Kaszowski, 65, died from his injuries, according to state police.

The crash closed the eastbound side of the highway in Vernon for several hours Saturday morning. The highway has already been reopened, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Troopers are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact CT State Police Troop C, Trooper Michael Nisbet at 860-896-3200 or Michael.Nisbet@ct.gov
