People who were near Donald Trump when he was apparently hit by gunfire have spoken out about what they saw happen.

One woman, named Erin, told NBC News she was in the front row and saw “fresh blood” coming from the former president’s ear.

“The guns came up to start. Sure. Sure to the right, sure to the left. They said, ‘pick it up.’ So they picked it up. Trump said, ‘I’ve got to put my shoes on first.’ “His shoes must have come off.” We couldn’t see him under him, but his shoes must have come off when they dropped him to the ground. We could all hear it.

“And when he stood up, I saw the red tear of blood, fresh red blood. Just a little tear. Then when they picked him up and turned him around, I could see the blood from the top of his ear to the bottom. No it was gushing but it was covered. And then he raised his fist, “stay strong,” and they pushed him away.

“I thought they were fireworks,” he said. “Pop pop pop. That’s what it sounded like.”

Erin continued, “They must have cut off his ear and he killed someone in the stands to the left.”

She said: “It looks like he was probably hit by that bullet and turned his head just in time.”

Speaking of her own safety, Erin said, “I wasn’t afraid at all…None of us in the front row fell to the ground. None. We just wanted to help the president. That’s all we wanted to do.”

And of her feelings about the incident, Erin said: “It’s so sad. All these people who came to see him and hurt him.”

He added: “I feel sad for our country, I feel sad for everyone. If you don’t like the guy, don’t vote for him. Don’t kill him. We love the guy, we’re going to vote for him.” . I mean, what’s with this violence?”
