SENATOR JD Vance has left home and is on his way to the Republican National Convention as speculation mounts that he will be named Donald Trump’s vice president.
Vance is one of TrumpThe three possible picks for vice president, including Senators Marco Rubio and Doug Burgum, who are expected to attend the GO P conference on Monday.
A motorcade carrying Vance and his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, left the Ohio senator’s home in Cincinnati around 10 am.
Footage from Vance’s residence showed the three-vehicle motorcade being escorted by Cincinnati police.
Trump previously said Vance, Burgum and Rubio are on his list of finalists for vice president.
Republicans are expected to step down Milwaukee for the start of the Republican National Convention, where Trump is expected to receive the party’s presidential nomination.
Trump, 78, said Fox News that he will announce his running mate during Monday’s event.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine told the outlet he approved a request for additional security details for Vance following the assassination attempt on Trump.
The former commander in chief was delivering remarks to a sea of supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday when a lone assassin fired nearly a dozen shots at him from a raised roof nearly 400 feet away.
The assassination attempt occurred minutes into the rally, when video showed Trump turning his head slightly to read a graphic about immigration before his right ear was pierced by a bullet from an AR-15-style rifle.
