The Crown and Baby Reindeer among UK shows recognised with Emmy nominations – as Shogun and The Bear lead the way | Ents & Arts News

Historical drama Shogun leads this year’s Emmy nominations, while The Crown and Baby Reindeer lead the British nominations.

Shogun, a story about a power struggle in feudal Japan, racked up 25 nominations and leads the nominations list, followed by restaurant story The Bear with 23, a record for a comedy.

Netflix led all networks with 107 nominations, including 18 for The Crown and 11 for Baby Reindeer.

The show starred Dame Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II and Dominic West as Prince Charles, and both earned nominations for their roles.

Baby Reindeer writer Richard Gadd received nominations for outstanding lead actor in a limited series, for his role as Donny, and for outstanding writing.

Gadd, whose character is stalked by a woman named Martha Scott, said the series is inspired by her real-life experiences.

Following the release of the series, a woman named Fiona Harvey came forward claiming to be the person who inspired the character of Martha.

She later filed a lawsuit accusing Netflix for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, gross negligence and violations of your right of publicity.

Elsewhere, Idris Elba received a lead actor nomination in the drama series category for his role as Sam Nelson in the Apple TV+ series Hijack, as did Gary Oldman for playing Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses.

Naomi Watts was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology category for her role as Babe Paley in Feud: Capote Vs The Swans.

Meanwhile, Matt Berry received a nod for his role in the comedy series What We Do In The Shadows.

For his role in the Netflix thriller Ripley, Irish actor Andrew Scott earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

The 76th Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
