EVANSVILLE — A man was found dead in a home on East Louisiana Street in Evansville Wednesday night, prompting the Evansville Police Department to open an investigation.
Buss Braden, operations supervisor for Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch, told the Courier & Press that officers were dispatched to 302 E. Louisiana St. after receiving a report of “shots fired” at 8:02 p.m.
“All we can say right now is there is a death investigation,” said Sgt. Dan Deeg of the Evansville Police Department said Wednesday night. Deeg was unable to publicly identify the deceased man during a brief interview at the scene Wednesday.
The home was cordoned off with crime scene tape and at least one evidence technician could be seen nearby talking to officers.
EPD Lt. John McQuay told reporters that investigators would release additional details about the incident “at a later date.” The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will publicly name the deceased male after the next of his kind is notified, per standard protocol.
An EPD spokesperson told the Courier & Press on Thursday that she was reviewing information with detectives in hopes of providing an update to the public.
