DONALD Trump loyalist Nigel Farage says the presidential candidate has the chance to bridge the political gap dividing America with his speech at the Republican National Convention.

The US Sun caught up with the British fire brigade on Thursday as it and thousands of GO P voters wait Trumpacceptance speech on the final night of the four-day conference.

Farage, 60, elected English MP for the first time on July 5, came to Milwaukeecity that hosts the RNC, on Wednesday afternoon and said he was looking forward to his friend’s impassioned speech.

“This is a very exciting time for him [Trump], I mean, he always died. He probably should have died. He was very lucky, I mean he just moved his head at that moment,” Farage told The US Sun about the assassination attempt on Trump.

“Tonight’s speech will be fascinating,” added MP Clacton before recalling his near-death experience in May 2010.

On 6 May 2010, Farage was traveling aboard a two-seater aircraft when the helicopter crashed at Hinton-in-the-Hedges airfield, near Brackley in England.

“I had a near-death experience 15 years ago. I was on a plane that crashed into the ground and I thought those last few minutes were the end,” recalled Farage.

“I was really devastated and I remember a few weeks later you just feel, you look at the world and you feel different.

“So I think we’re going to see a different kind of speech tonight from Donald Trump.”

Farage elaborated that perhaps the American public needs to see Trump’s new emotional side.

“That might not be a bad thing because the left-right divisions in America are horrible,” he said.

“The polarity in politics, the language is horrible.

“If Trump is able to come out of this and say, ‘Hey guys, we can disagree, but let’s do it like our parents used to do after the war. Let’s do it in a way that respects the rights of others who have different opinions.

“That would be a good thing, not just for him, but for the country.

“You can’t heal a divide overnight, but what you can encourage is a really strong and healthy culture of debate, but with respect for the other person.”

Farage went on to blame comments against Trump, echoing cries from GOP lawmakers Marjorie Taylor Green and new vice president-elect JD Vance.

“There are many American media outlets that have frankly allowed the language of genuine hatred to be propagated against Donald Trump, which I believe leads directly to what happened to that young gunman on that rooftop the other day,” Farage said.

“It happened on American comedy shows. It happened on many mainstream TV shows.

“It’s not that we disagree with Donald Trump, but he is Hitler. All of this has to stop. Otherwise, only God knows where we will end up.”

On Thursday, Farage also told The Sun in a separate interview that he believes Trump is the only one who can stop Putin.

And he laid out exactly how Trump’s strength could finally bring the Russian dictator under control.

He suggested that threatening Putin with Ukraine’s potential NATO membership would force him to back down.

He said “aggressive movement” might be the only thing he “fears.”

Nigel Farage’s life and career

NIGEL Farage is best known for his outspoken views and anti-EU Brexit advocacy.

Farage was born in Kent and attended the private Dulwich College.

After leaving the famous private school, he decided to drop out of university and started working in the City – London’s financial district – in 1982.

Despite supporting the Conservatives since school, he left the party after John Major signed the Maastricht Treaty.

He became a founding member of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), which campaigned to leave the European Union in 1993.

Farage was elected to the European Parliament in 1999 and remained there until 2020.

After becoming leader of UKIP in 2006, Farage declared he wanted to “take back control” of the UK’s borders and immigration and called for a points-based visa system and time-limited work permits.

He resigned as leader of UKIP to stand in the 2010 general election.

But on the day of the 2010 UK general election, he survived a plane crash and spent two days in hospital.

In 2014, Farage led UKIP to its largest share of the vote in the European elections.

He left UKIP in 2019 and launched the Brexit Party.

In 2021, he resigned as leader of Reform UK – the renamed Brexit Party.

The UK’s most prominent Brex supporter has long been a friend and ally of former US President Donald Trump and has been seen interviewing and supporting him at rallies.

He said he would gladly serve as Britain’s ambassador under Trump’s presidency.

Farage has four children – two sons with his ex-wife and two daughters with Kirsten Mehr, a German national who he reportedly met in 1996.

Outside of politics, the former UKIP leader also appeared on hit ITV show I’m A Celebrity last year.

Farage added that Trump was a “much bigger player” on the world stage than “anyone thought he would be”.

“He believes that peace comes through strength.

“Therefore, he will not leave Zelensky with nothing before an attempted negotiation.

“In fact, I think there is a very strong card that we have against Putin, which is actually NATO membership.

“We tell Putin that ground needs to be given, otherwise Ukraine will join NATO.

“Now this will be a very aggressive act, but it may be the only thing Putin really fears.”

Farage also reiterated his claim that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if Trump had been in the White House.

Regarding possible peace negotiations, he said: “I cannot predict whether a peace negotiation will be successful or not.

“All I can say is that all wars end in two ways. One is a negotiated peace settlement. The other is annihilation.”

Farage and Trump are known to be friends and have campaigned together, with Farage being seen interviewing Trump and at rallies.

The former US president wished the Brexit campaigner a happy 60th birthday.

In a video message played at Farage’s party on April 3, Trump said: “You are a historic figure as a prophetic leader, and I know the people of the United Kingdom are grateful for your patriotism and service.

“Indeed. I’m really looking forward to seeing what your next move will be, it will be interesting.”

Farage has previously said he would gladly serve as Britain’s ambassador to the US under Trump’s presidency.

Trump also congratulated Farage on winning his first seat – saying “Nigel loves his country”.

He said: “Congratulations to Nigel Farage on his big victory of a seat in Parliament amid the electoral success of reform in the UK.

Posting on Twitter, Trump added: “Nigel is a man who truly loves his country! DJT.”
