The restriction will extend until at least Election Day, Nov. 5, “at the earliest,” city officials said.

Secret Service members made the decision after Trump was injured at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

A 20-year-old gunman shot the former president, injuring his ear and killing a rally participant.

Thomas Crooks, the shooter, was shot dead by a Secret Service sniper, however, the agency was criticized for alleged failures on the day of the rally.

In addition to the attempt on Trump’s life, there have also been ongoing threats, including one from Iran weeks before the rally shooting.

The street closure will affect the intersection of South County Road and South Ocean Boulevard to the roundabout connecting Southern Boulevard and South Ocean Boulevard.

“We learned on Saturday that everything we were doing didn’t work. My hope and prayer is that the Secret Service gets it right,” Tim Miller, a retired agent, told the local NBC affiliate. WPTV.

DEMANDING ANSWERS

Kimberly Cheatle, the Director of the Secret Service, was subpoenaed Wednesday by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee to attend a Congressional hearing into the assassination attempt.

James Comer, chairman of the committee, said the subpoena was necessary due to a “lack of transparency and lack of cooperation,” which led many to question Cheatle’s leadership.

“The attempted assassination of the former president and current Republican presidential candidate represents a complete failure of the agency’s core mission and demands congressional oversight,” he wrote in a letter to Cheatle.

That same day, the President of the Chamber Mike Johnson said he planned to create a task force to investigate security failures during the assassination attempt.

Johnson added that he would ask Cheatle to resign from his position.

“I think she showed what her priorities are,” he said Fox News.

However, Cheatle said he would fully participate in a analysis and would work with congressional committees to investigate the shooting.

‘ABSOLUTE MIRACLE’

Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson, who served as Trump’s doctor during his presidency revealed that he assesses the wound in his right ear daily.

  • Federal authorities said Crooks had a cell phone and transmitter when he was killed on the roof of the AGR building, about 400 feet from the rally podium.
  • Crooks visited the Trump rally site in Butler at least once before the shooting, according to CBS News.
  • He also conducted online research on the date of Trump’s rally in Butler, the Democratic National Convention, FBI Director Christopher Way, Attorney General Merrick Garland and members of the British royal family, the outlet reported.
  • The alleged killer searched for images of Trump and the president Joe Biden.
  • Crooks also hid his father’s assault rifle in advance, according to Fox News.

However, because the ears have many blood vessels, Jackson said there was “intermittent bleeding” that required bandages.

“Given the broad and blunt nature of the wound itself, no sutures were necessary,” he wrote.

Trump will receive further evaluations, including a “comprehensive hearing exam,” Jackson said.
