GERMANY is set to build the world’s tallest wind turbine, which will exceed the height of the Shard.
Incredible plans have been revealed for the power generator that will stand 1,200 feet tall and generate twice as much energy as existing turbines.

A German energy company proposed the structure after collecting data on a 300-meter-high mast that was erected in Schipkau, south of Berlin, 12 months ago.
The research team found that the sky-high turbine could generate more than double the output that normal turbines produce with the same rotors.
Jochen Grossmann, managing partner of the company that operates the mast, said: “Compared to normal turbines with the same rotor diameter, we have more than double the output.”
But plans for the taller power generator have already drawn sharp criticism from local residents and nature conservation groups, who have warned the turbine will kill more birds and bats.
The huge rotor blades of wind turbines generate an immense amount of negative pressure, sucking in everything that flies around them.
And the larger the size of the blades, the greater the effect.
Björn Ellner, president of the Union for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity, said: “The higher the turbines are, the greater the risk of collision. [with birds].
“The red kite [bird species] looks down during flight to detect prey. As there are no natural barriers at its altitude, its flight behavior is not adapted to obstacles in the landscape.”
However, the operating company claims that the production of such wind turbines could greatly help the country’s energy consumption, as a single turbine could supply 8,000 homes with energy.
It also states that the new structures could be added to existing wind farms, fitting between shorter turbines.
“The masts are so tall that the rotors don’t overlap and move the wind away from each other,” explained Grossmann.
Germany’s tallest wind turbine is expected to be built by the end of this year and will have a distinctive, cage-like design unlike anything that exists today.
And the company plans to build 1,000 of these giant turbines across Germany, with special attention in the state of Bavaria.
In 2017, Germany was home to the world’s largest wind turbine at the time.
Built by Bögl Wind AG, the structure’s central hub measured 808 feet including the rotor blades.
Currently, the tallest wind turbine in the world is 919 feet in Denmark.
Considered the most powerful wind power generator, the Vestas V236-15.0 MW has a windswept area of 470,845 square feet.
This comes as Dubai prepares to build the world’s tallest residential clock tower, named after London’s Big Ben.
The immense building will be an impressive 450 meters tall (1,476 feet) – almost five times taller than its 96-meter British counterpart.
Aeternitas Tower, nicknamed ‘London Gate’, will be the offspring of Dubai-based property developer London Gate and Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Franck Muller.
The sky-high tower will have a shiny, all-glass facade with a huge clock at the top.
Measuring 40 meters high by 30 meters wide, the clock will be built in Germany and will be visible from kilometers away.
Following the Swiss watchmaker’s art deco style, the watch will feature irregular, flattened and stretched numerals.
