Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, who dubbed Joe Biden “Joe-bi-Wan-Kenobi” in May, said the president had “brought honesty, dignity and integrity back to the office” by dropping out of the race.
“It is now our duty as patriotic Americans to elect the Democrat who will honor and promote his legacy,” he wrote in X.
Meanwhile, Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler called Biden a “true American patriot” and wrote on X: “He is the rarest politician, a decent man who lived by his values.”
He also called Republican presidential candidate Trump a “moron” for his response to Biden’s announcement, in which he called Biden “the worst” president in American history.
Robert De Niro, who supported Biden’s campaign in recent weeks, thanked Biden for his “act of astute politics and selfless patriotism” in a statement to The Hill.
“Joe Biden is stepping aside to clear the way for another Democrat to become president because there is nothing more important to our country than defeating Donald Trump,” he said.
