Or look for their large, bulging eyes positioned on top of their head.

DRINK CALL

Male bullfrogs have a distinctive call that sounds as if they are searching for a drink.

Their “jug-o-rum” croak sounds as they try to attract mates and establish territory.

You can often hear them singing in the spring and summer during mating season, said the National Park Service.

“When an American bullfrog is captured by a predator that wants to eat it, it makes a high-pitched sound to warn other frogs about the predator,” the researcher added. Alabama Wildlife Federation.

Being well camouflaged means they can also hunt prey.

Cold-blooded frogs like to eat a smorgasbord of creatures.

They happily eat insects, salamanders, small snakes, turtles and even small birds.

CANNIBALS

But if these are not readily available, they will start munching on other frogs – as they are cannibals, AWF said.

Their agile limbs allow them to jump up to 10 times their body length – the equivalent of a 6-foot-tall human jumping 60 feet.

And their prey cannot escape easily, as amphibians – which can weigh up to half a kilo – have four teeth to hold meals in their mouths.
