Motor vehicle inspections are still not available in Massachusetts as of Tuesday, more than four full days after a Faulty software update wreaked technological havoc across the world.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles said, “Motor vehicle inspections are not available in the state due to the global outage on Friday, July 19, which impacted the use of some technologies. The Registry continues to coordinate with its supplier, OPUS and inspection sites to resolve issues.”
Motorcycle inspections are available in the Bay State, the RMV noted.
The software issue, which also grounded flights around the world, was caused by a “defect found in Crowdstrike in a single content update for Windows hosts,” the company’s CEO said.
CrowdStrike is a global cybersecurity company and one of its customers is Microsoft Windows.
Delta was also hit hard by the technological meltdown. The airline was still trying to restore operations on Tuesday.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg launched an investigation into Delta.
