PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Judiciary expressed condolences Wednesday over the passing of state Traffic Court Judge Edward Clark Parker, who served on the court for three decades before retiring last year.

Known as “Eddie,” Parker, of Pawtucket, died Saturday, July 20, at age 85, according to his obituary.

Parker joined the Traffic Court in 1993, serving as interim chief in 2007.

“Judge Parker was the cornerstone upon which the Rhode Island Traffic Court stood during his time here,” Traffic Court Chief Magistrate Domenic DiSandro said in a statement. “Throughout his long and distinguished career, his colleagues and friends knew him as a larger-than-life presence. Judge Parker could light up the darkest room and spread levity with his sharp intellect and quick wit. He was never at a loss for words. His Traffic Court family feels a tremendous sense of loss at his passing and extends our deepest condolences to his entire family.”

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Manning-Heffern-O’Neill Funeral Home at 220 Cottage St. in Pawtucket. His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa’s Church, 354 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
