David Dutch has been released from the hospital following injuries sustained at Trump’s outdoor campaign rally nearly two weeks ago.

When gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks began shooting from a nearby rooftop, Dutch was hit twice.

He was shot once in the chest and once in the liver, and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Once in the hospital, he was placed in a medically induced coma and underwent several surgeries, according to the Pennsylvania Department of the Marine Corps League.

Dutch’s family also released a statement after the attack, thanking the “first responders and medical professionals who saved his life, including the Life Flight and AGH trauma surgical teams,” as reported by Allegheny Health Network.

They also offered their “deepest condolences and prayers for the other victims of this tragic event and their families.”

Rick Keibler, Dutch’s coworker, created a GoFundMe to support Dutch and his family as he recovers from traumatic injuries.

From Wednesday, July 24th, the fund raising raised just over $13,000 of its $100,000 goal.

“We work together and knowing how much short-term disability pays off, he and his family really need help,” Keibler wrote.

“Knowing Dave well, I know he would have taken that bullet for Trump. He’s that kind of guy. Please help if you can.”

The US Sun reached out to Keibler for the latest updates on Dutch’s condition and when Dutch’s wife, Sheree Dutch, can expect to receive the funds.

Latest shooting at Donald Trump Butler rally

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was grazed by a bullet while speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024.

Donald Trump was not seriously injured and is expected to make a full recovery. He has since made his first public appearance following the shooting.

The other victims include James Copenhaver, who is still undergoing treatment in Allegheny.

The 74-year-old retiree and grandfather was also shot by Crooks at the rally, suffering “life-altering” injuries, according to his family.

Corey Compatore, 50, a father of two and decorated firefighter, was shot and killed at the rally.

He heroically dove in front of his wife and children as the shooting began.

Meanwhile, Trump was also briefly hospitalized for minor injuries after suffering a graze wound to his ear.

He left the hospital after a few hours and showed up at the Republican National Convention a few days later with a bandage on his right ear.

On Wednesday, July 24, the bandage was absent from Trump’s first campaign rally since the shooting, and since Vice President Kamala Harris became his likely new opponent.
