Disgraced Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is in the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 and contracting double pneumonia.

The 72-year-old man is being treated for a “myriad of health problems” in the prison ward of New York’s Bellevue Hospital, his representative and prison consultant Craig Rothfeld told US network NBC News, a Sky partner.

Rothfeld said diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis and fluid in the heart and lungs are among the “various” conditions Weinstein “still afflicts on a daily basis.”

“In addition, Mr. Weinstein tested positive for COVID and contracted double pneumonia in his lungs,” he added.

Double pneumonia is when the infection affects both lungs.

Weinstein has been in prison since 2020 and He had a 10-day stay at Bellevue Hospital Earlier this year, his lawyer Arthur Aidala described him as “something of a disaster health-wise” but still “sharp as a tack” mentally.

The former film producer’s historic conviction in New York in 2020 led to him receiving a 23-year prison sentence and fueled a global #MeToo movement, but In April it was canceled by the state’s highest court.

The judges ruled that the original hearing had been marred by “egregious” and inadequate rulings, including the decision to allow the women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case, violating Weinstein’s right to a fair trial.

Although his conviction was dismissed, Weinstein has remained in prison because he was also convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 for another rape, for which he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. He is too appealing against this sentence.

Weinstein has denied raping or sexually assaulting anyone.
