The world’s longest cat is so big that some fans question whether it’s real, its owner says.
Barivel, a 3 foot 11 inch moggy from Italy, set the world record for his incredible length.

Edgar Scandurra and Cinzia Tinnirello, Barivel’s owners, said that the feline was a special cat for the family.
Edgar said: “He is a bit shy and when people see him they are quite shocked.
“For us, he is a small gift. A big gift.”
Barivel was born in September 2016 – and was two years old when he broke records in 2018.
Longer than a baseball bat at the time, the family said they hoped Barivel would grow a little longer.
Maine Coons don’t stop growing until they are three to five years old.
Regarding his large size, Edgar said: “A lot of people, when I post a photo, ask via direct message if it is photoshopped because of Barivel’s large size.
When the family acquired Barivel, they were a little shocked by his size compared to the other cats they own.
Edgar said: “He was very calm and very shy. He is a very good cat.
“We like to go out, but we like to go in a stroller. People are very surprised to see it. It’s strange to see a cat outside in a stroller.
“They want to take a picture of him and pet him.”
But with a huge cat like Barivel, the record books were never far from Edgar and Cinzia’s minds.
They said, “From the beginning, we thought about this Guinness World record title… for us it is like a gift.”
And Barivel found fame online – with an Instagram account and thousands of followers.
The photos show the furry feline playing with his toys and dressed in Santa hats and sunglasses.
A big cat like Barivel has a big appetite, his owners said.
His family said he always has cookies available – leading a spoiled life.
Edgar said: “He really likes tuna and many other types of fish.
“When we eat, he has to eat because he smells our food, like fish or chicken, and he loves chicken.”
An avid cat lover, Edgar said the not-so-small companion can teach people to stay calm.
He explained: “To me, some doctors said you have to get a cat because a cat can change your life and make you more comfortable, not only with yourself but with the world, because cats are very strange.
“They teach us many things. For us he is like a gift because he has a good personality.”
The name Barivel was initially chosen by the breeder.

Edgar explained that in his Italian dialect Barivel meant “clown or joker”.
He added: “Barivel is not really a prankster. He is very calm and very different.
“I say he’s like a Buddhist cat because he’s very special.”
Another popular Maine Coon cat that has gone viral on social media is a white moggy named Kefir.
The three-year-old white Maine Coone weighed an impressive 26 pounds.
His owner, Yulia Minina, posted updates of the large Maine Coon on her social media accounts.
Julia said Pet Radar: “The look is usually similar to a person, and Kefir has a formidable appearance, but it is very affectionate.
“But when strangers come home, everyone first mistakes him for a dog.”
Maine Coons are one of the largest domesticated cat breeds.
They originate from Maine and have a distinct physical appearance and dense coat that helps with Maine’s cold climate.
According to the American Cat Fanciers Association, Maine Coons are also known for having a canine disposition and getting along well with children, other cats, and dogs.
