A TRAVELER has died in a mid-air tragedy after collapsing on a Virgin Australia flight.
The crew rushed to perform CPR in a desperate attempt to save the woman with the plane having priority landing in Melbourne.
She was removed from the aircraft with emergency services waiting on the tarmac, but could not be saved.
She collapsed during the flight at around 9.30am on Monday, before the jet landed at Tullamarine Airport at around 10.15am.
Authorities are not treating the death as suspicious.
The tragedy occurred on a Brisbane-Melbourne flight.
A Virgin Australia spokesperson told News Corp Australia’s NewsWire: “Virgin Australia can confirm a medical emergency on board flight VA308 traveling from Brisbane to Melbourne this morning.”
