There were no immediate reports of massive damage caused by the shocks, which measured about 7.89 miles deep, according to the Southern California Earthquake Data Center.

Local residents shared on social media where they felt the afternoon earthquake.

“I felt this here in Las Vegas,” posted one user on X.

“Same, East Hollywood,” said another.

“I felt it here in Glendale, a big shock,” added a third, while a fourth wrote: “I felt it in the city in California.

Local government officials also took to social media, asking residents to report where they felt the earthquake.

“We are aware of a 4.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred 13 miles from Barstow (~120 miles from Long Beach) just a few minutes ago,” City of Long Beach Mayor Red Richardson said in a post to X.

“To date, there have been no reports of damage or impacts to our city.”
