NEW footage shows the tragic moment officers find a newborn baby who was thrown in a bin earlier that day.
Everilda Cux-Ajtzalam, an 18-year-old Guatemalan woman living illegally in the United States, was arrested after stuffing her newborn son in a trash bag and throwing him in the trash.

On July 21, Cux-Ajtzalam gave birth on the floor behind the taco truck where she worked in Houston, Texas, The Daily Mail reported.
“[Defendant] placed the child, placenta and umbilical cord in a trash bag, took the trash bag to a trash can, and left the child in the trash tied inside the trash bag,” a judge wrote.
Cux-Ajtzalam allegedly told officers she felt she had to throw the child away otherwise her boyfriend would break up with her.
Fortunately, a person passing by the dumpster reported the baby’s crying to the authorities, who promptly saved the child.
Breathtaking footage from the scene captured the moment the boy was miraculously rescued by EMS.
In the video obtained by affiliate ABC KTRKan EMS doctor can be seen gently picking up the newborn from an overflowing dumpster.
Another worker carefully wrapped the baby in a blanket as he picked him up and carried him to the ambulance.
The newborn’s hair still looks wet, the umbilical cord is fresh, and the skin still has a pink tint.
The ambulance immediately took the baby to Texas Children’s Hospital for treatment, Law and Crime reported.
After treating the newborn, doctors deemed him to be in good health.
The hospital then turned the child over to Child Protective Services.
The mother of the abandoned baby was charged with a crime for abandoning a child with no intention of returning.
The prosecution asked Cux-Ajtzalam to be granted a $150,000 bond, while his public defender asked for a $7,5000 bond.
When the teen appeared in court on Friday, she faced some harsh words from Judge Veronica M. Nelson.
“It was pure luck that the child was found and received care,” said the judge.
“Given the fact that it is the middle of summer in Houston, Texas, and the temperature at the time… I will set bail in this case at $90,000.”
His bond was increased to $200,000 a few days later, KTRK reported.
Cux-Ajtzalam would have been considered a flight risk as it had no known connections to the country
Immigration and Customs Enforcement suspended her release when she was arrested by Border Patrol in 2023.
She is currently being held in the Harris County Jail.
