On July 29, 2024, Fox meteorologist Jennifer Delgado went to X to report a crime at a target in Washington DC.

She shared a photo and video showing the boarded-up Georgia Avenue store, writing: “Criminals really wanted to get into #Target last week.

“They broke most of the windows at the Georgia Ave store in #WashingtonDC.

“#Crime is out of control. #dc.”

Buyers expressed their opinions in the comments of the post.

One disappointed customer wrote: “Damn! I live near that Target. I go there all the time. Ridiculous!”

Another cleverly said, “They targeted this place.”

However, some shoppers criticized the retail giant.

“I hope they got everything they needed. These prices are crazy. Something needs to change,” one customer wrote.

“Close,” said another.

US Sun has reached out to Target for comment.

TIME OF THE CRIME

The crime has had an impact on Target stores.

Some of the retail giant’s crime response measures have been seen as controversial due to customer criticism.

Shoppers expressed their outrage over the items being locked in glass cases.

The anti-theft measure is also used by Walmart and has been widely condemned by shoppers.

Retailers in the US and Canada have implemented strategies designed to combat theft. The US Sun has compiled a list of measures that have been implemented in stores.

Customers also complained after Target began attaching anti-theft devices to clothing.

“@Target is now attaching these anti-theft devices to many items of clothing,” said one dissatisfied shopper he wrote in X.

“I didn’t notice when I checked out. It will take an effort to go to the store to remove it.”

It’s a “big pain” for the customer. added.

“This needs to be fixed due to the pressure to use self-checkout.”
