A North Texas pastor faces a charge of soliciting prostitution after being arrested in May, according to Plano police.

The former senior pastor of Community Bible Fellowship of North Dallas church in Plano, 51-year-old Terren Lee Dames was taken into custody on May 2.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the former pastor’s arrest was part of a police operation. Plano police regularly conduct a “demand reduction” operation targeting those who solicit commercial sex, the warrant says.

On the evening of May 2, Dames called an undercover officer and agreed to pay $150 for sex to a person he believed to be a prostitute, according to the warrant.

The officer gave Dames an address, and the former pastor arrived at a motel shortly afterward, court documents state.

Dames was stopped by another officer at the intersection of Avenue G and Central Parkway East, where he was arrested.

After being read his Miranda Warning, Dames told officers he arrived at the motel to meet a friend, the warrant says. It was at this point that Dames began to experience a medical episode.

He was evaluated by the fire department and doctors determined his vital signs were low, but Dames refused to be taken to the hospital, according to the warrant. His phone was also seized when he was arrested.

Dames was charged with solicitation of prostitution on June 11, Collin County court records show.

He was named the senior pastor of the church in 2015according to the North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship website.

The church has not yet responded to the Star-Telegram’s phone call or email seeking comment.

The church told the Star-Telegram’s media partner, WFAA-TV, that Dames was removed from its staff in May due to a “moral failure.”
