Protesters also fought with police in Southport outside a mosque following the horrific attack.

Merseyside Police said more than 50 officers were injured amid the carnage.

Southport MP Patrick Hurley blamed Tuesday’s clashes on “a turbulent quagmire of lies and propaganda on social media”.

Deputy First Minister Angela Rayner criticized the “disgraceful” violence and also criticized “untruths” on social media.

She said: “The speculation and some of the untruths that have been spread on social media not only create tension and fear in the community, but are also disrespectful to a family who perhaps wants these answers and doesn’t have them.”

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has promised that rebels responsible for the terror protests will “face the full force of the law”.

Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar were all stabbed to death in the mass stabbing in Southport.

A further eight children suffered stab wounds in the horror, with five fighting for their lives in hospital along with two adults.

Earlier this year, Putin’s troll farms fueled hateful new conspiracy theories in Britain when they attacked British royalty in an attempt to provoke chaos.

Former White House chief information officer Theresa Payton claimed that wild theories surrounding the King and Princess Kate’s health in early 2024 were likely the result of Kremlin propaganda.

Several Russian media outlets spread false and damaging news saying that King Charles III had died – even publishing a completely fabricated statement from Buckingham Palace.

Russian media outlets have also spread conspiracy theories on social media, casting unfounded doubts about the authenticity of The Sun’s exclusive footage of Princess Kate and Prince William shopping.

How Russia Weaponizes Fake News and Troll Farms

RUSSIAN media has been at the center of a storm of wild UK-related conspiracy theories in recent years.

After spreading misinformation that King Charles is dead, Kremlin trolls have suggested that Kate Middleton is not the woman who appears alongside Will in a video showing them walking around Windsor.

But this is not the first time Russia has used false reports to spread chaos.

In 2020, Russian media bizarrely claimed that the British-made vaccine distributed by AstraZeneca turned people into monkeys.

It was thought to be a ploy to promote his own Putin-backed Sputnik V vaccine.

And with the invasion of Ukraine, Moscow’s propaganda machine continued its work trying to spread fake news.

In 2022, Russia claimed that the United Kingdom “staged” horrific scenes of carnage in Bucha to blame Vladimir Putin.

The Kremlin has denied that the massacre took place, with a state television report making distorted claims that the massacre was “staged” and constituted a “provocation” that was “carried out by professionals, probably British”.

And a few months later, a fake video of Ukrainian President Zelensky talking about surrendering to Russia was circulating on social media.

The video – obviously fake – showed President Zelesky behind a podium ordering his troops to surrender.

The real Ukrainian president described it as a “childish provocation”.
