Almost two weeks after a 3 year old Minnesota boy and his mother were attacked by two dogsthe boy’s heart was donated to another child after the boy’s death.

When Covil Allen, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and his mother Tasha were attacked by two dogs on Friday, July 19, it was determined that he would not survive the injuries he sustained. Therefore, the family decided to donate his organs.

Now, they report via GoFundMe that his heart was donated to a 1-year-old girl.

Family friend Lindsey Hemmerich wrote in an update on Tuesday, July 30, “This is the most beautiful thing to come from this tragedy and we couldn’t be happier that your heart was able to save someone.”

The update further states that Covil’s liver did not “fit the child on the list.”

The Allen family had been working with Life Source, an organ procurement organization, to donate Covil’s organs, according to the fundraiser. “This will honor Covil’s life and save the lives of more children in the hopes that no other parents will have to endure the pain they are feeling right now,” Hemmerich wrote on July 24.

Both Covil and his mother suffered serious injuries following the attack; a previous update stated that Tasha had three surgeries and would need multiple skin grafts.
