A CHEF died after being stung by a wasp while placing a flower on his mother’s grave.

Marc Pavel suffered an allergic reaction and began to experience great difficulty breathing as he returned home minutes later.

He was just meters from his house when he stopped the car and went out to look for help.

But he passed out before he could find anyone.

Local residents found Marc, 47, lying on the ground and doctors called to the scene discovered he had suffered cardiac arrest, caused by anaphylaxis from the wasp sting.

They resuscitated him and took him to the hospital in Trieste, Italy.

But his condition worsened and he fell into a coma before dying four days after being bitten in the cemetery.

Marc, whose mother died in 2019, won the local Cook of the Year award in 2012.
