The world’s largest chicken, aptly named “Stranger,” was so big and ferocious that it cut off fingers and killed cats.

Half a century ago there lived the super chicken that was four times the size of an average rooster – the same as an average-sized dog.

Born in 1970, Weirdo hatched from an incredibly large egg that wore out his mother so much that she never produced offspring again.

Weird was listed on Guinness Book of records throughout the 70s and 80s as the heaviest chicken in the world and still remains the largest rooster.

The mega-cock grew incredibly fast and along with his physical size grew his violent and aggressive nature.

The freak’s owner, Grant Sullens of West Point, California, reportedly had to get eight stitches after losing a fight with the colossal chicken.

Not to mention, the crazy chicken also killed two cats and took out a dog’s eye.

One unlucky fan even lost his fingertip to the killer chicken.

Weirdo’s gigantic size was a pre-meditated plan by Grant that took a decade to execute.

In a shocking story, before Weirdo, Grant wanted to come up with a plan to make his chickens survive longer after freezing to death.

With a microscope, tin incubators and help from his teacher, Grant began breeding several different types of chickens – from Rhode Island Reds to Austrian Cross Whites.

He never revealed the final mix that produced the colossal Weirdo, for fear that other chicken farmers would copy it.

Grant dominated the mega breed and named it ‘White Sully’.

The invincible hybrid chickens that Grant bred grew quickly and large, with good quality meat, great bone structure and did not develop cancer.

And just as Grant wanted, they survived the bitter cold.

When asked why Weirdo got its name, Grant reportedly said, “What else could you call something like that?”

The super cock breeder went on to say how Weirdo was practically invincible.

He said: “I kicked this rooster, hit him with a bucket of feed and punched him when he knocked me down, but I didn’t hurt him one bit.”

Weirdo and Grant began to make headlines and attract a lot of attention from fans.

The chicken almost made it to Hollywood, with filmmaker Errol Morris writing a film in 1980 titled “Weirdo” – following the life of Grant Sullens and his development of the superchicken.

But the film was never made, and soon the creator and the chicken were out of the press altogether.

In the 90s, the Guinness Book of Records recognized a new mega-chicken called “Big Snow“, labeling him the new heaviest chicken in the world and knocking Weirdo off the podium.

In fact, it turned out that Big Snow was the White Scully breed that Grant bred – and was in Australia.

It is not known what happened to Weirdo or the White Sully breed, but although he is no longer the heaviest chicken, he is still the largest.
