Donald Trump’s son has told Sky News that any momentum Kamala Harris has in the campaign is because the media has “put her on a false pedestal”.

In a wide-ranging interview in Triumph At the Scotland International Golf Course outside Aberdeen, Eric Trump also spoke in detail about the assassination attempt on his father three weeks ago and defended J.D. Vance as a vice presidential candidate.

On race momentum, Eric Trump said: “Well, does it depend on how you define momentum, within the country, within the people of our country? No, momentum is not [with Kamala Harris].

“You know, now, all of a sudden, the media is praising her. When the media three weeks ago was making fun of her, they were praising her as if she were the second coming of politics. It’s pretty disingenuous, the whole thing.

“I think the mainstream media in the United States has put her on a pedestal, it’s a false pedestal. It’s no different than the one they put on.” Joe Biden in.”

Reflecting on the assassination attempt that he saw live on television, Eric Trump said: “So I had my kids on my lap and my wife was in the room. And that’s when we heard the gunshots.

“You think the worst. It’s never good when you get blood coming out of the side of your ear. In life that’s not a good thing. I mean, the chances of a bullet just grazing an ear? It probably defies statistics.

“You were a quarter of an inch away from that day being very different. And not just for me, not just for our family, not just for, you know, the kids who were sitting on my lap, but for the Western world, too, “I really mean it.”

When asked to what extent the shooting had changed his father, he said, “I think that creates humility in a person, absolutely.”

But he defended Donald Trump’s continued combative style.

“I think that probably puts into perspective what’s important in life. At the same time, he shows up on stage and what does he do? You know, ‘fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight.’ And I think that It encouraged a lot of people… in the United States.”

Eric Trump speaks days after assassination attempt on his father

Asked whether language like “fight, fight, fight” in such a dangerously divisive atmosphere could stoke further division, he responded: “That can’t be a serious question.”

“I mean, the guy just had a bullet put in his ear. And you want to talk about healing the division? I mean, you know, respectfully, they just shot him… you know, they’re trying to put an end to his. They tried to get him out of everything.” our lives. They tried to change American history.”

He continued: “They did everything they could to try to take him out. They tried to ruin his reputation, they tried to destroy his family, they tried to break up his family, they tried to ruin him, they tried to imprison him. And then they tried to kill him.” him.”

Prompted by his apparent attempt to combine judicial efforts to prosecute him and the attempt on his life by a lone gunman, Eric Trump said: “I can’t imagine that the person who tried to shoot him in the head was a staunch Republican, by any means.” “But no, he is a madman, there is no doubt, he is a madman.”

Throwing dangerous rhetoric back at the Democratic Party, he said: “Joe Biden, two days before my father was shot in the ear, posted a tweet saying we had to put a target on Donald Trump.”

Eric, 40, is Donald Trump’s third child and is the executive vice president of The Trump Organization. He has taken a central role in his father’s campaign to return to the White House.

He rejected his father comments this week on Kamala Harris’ estate.

Donald Trump falsely claimed Wednesday that the vice president and Democratic nominee had emphasized her Asian-American heritage until she “became a black person.”

“I didn’t know she was black until several years ago, when she became black and now she wants to be known as black,” Trump Sr. said at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago.

“So I don’t know. Is she Indian? Or is she black?”

To that, Eric Trump responded: “I don’t know what Kamala is. What I do know is that she is incompetent and that she has done a horrible job.”

Commenting on Donald Trump’s confirmation that he will Kamala Harris debate on Fox News in SeptemberEric questioned the point of the debate process.

“Sometimes I honestly wonder if I should do it. It’s a joke. So he goes in, debates Joe, and then suddenly, you know, Joe does so poorly that he’s forced to drop out of the race. If he debates with Kamala and “She does a terrible job, as she will, because again, she’s accomplished nothing and her politics are terrible and, frankly, she’s not a traditionally debater and never has been, so they’re just going to replace her?”

He doubled down on his father’s bid for the vice presidency and called JD Vance “an amazing guy.”

Last week, comments Vance had made in 2021 surfaced in which he said the country was run “by a bunch of childless cats who are miserable with their own lives and the decisions they’ve made and so they want to make the world miserable.” rest of the country too.”

In response, Eric Trump said: “I don’t know what kind of context was with this comment, you know, but do I think there are deranged people in this country? Yes. But I don’t know anything about the comment. What I think “I think “JD would be a great vice president and what I know is that we are going to win on November 5.”
